About Page

It all began with passion. Passion for the trout, the environment, and the challenge. Here's a little more about me.

I picked up my first fly rod when I was 16 years old. A mentor of mine took my best friend and I on a camping and fishing trip for the weekend. I stood in the cold, clear waters of the Chattooga River and fell in love. Not a trout was seen that weekend, but I was entranced with everything about it and it began this journey. Twenty five years of fly fishing experience later and still striving to learn daily. There is nothing better than being able to share my love and knowledge of Fly Fishing with others.

When I am not fishing my southeastern home waters, my other half and I spend time traveling across the country with our little girl, pup, camper, and a boat pestering other states trout.

Prior to transitioning into fly tying and guiding fulltime, I spent about 15 years as a professional photographer. My love for nature and being outdoors is what fueled that fire. During my photography career I shot everything from landscapes to real estate, and portraits to weddings. I still keep my love of photography strong by capturing my time out on the water and the beautiful fish I am lucky enough to shake hands with.

I’m lucky enough to call Bristol Home now and have the incredible South Holston And Watauga River right here nearby. So reach out, book a trip, and let me share these amazing fisheries with you!

Core Values

Taking a Guided Fishing Trip with High Flying Flies you will be a part of…

I absolutely love what I do. I cannot control the fish, but I can control my attitude. I strive to stay positive, not only on the good days, but also the tough ones. I am so lucky to do what I do for a living and share these beautiful rivers.

Fly fishing is tough and I know that. But have no fear, your number 1 hype man is here. Whether you just landed your new personal best trout or nailed a great cast, high fives and fist bumps are welcomed!

Slow down, take a breath, I got you. I’m not going to lie, this fly fishing stuff is a little tough, lol, and can be quite frustrating at times. It’s very typical for tangles and snags to happen, which can take the wind out of your sails.  Just tap me in, sit back, and enjoy the view. Over 2 decades of wind knots, catching trees, and rigging tiny flies has got me ready!

If we love these rivers and fish, we have to act like it. And I do. These trout and the places they live in bring me so much peace and joy. I have to do my part to make sure future generations have the same chance to experience these amazing places. Leave no trace. Respect the fishery. Follow the regulations. High Flying Flies practices strictly catch and release fly fishing.
